Synopsis

PLAKAT MALI GEZA_webDrama “Little Geza” written by contemporary author Janos Haj shows "transitional" neighborhood of impoverished Hungarian village, where destinies of the so-called "small people" are reduced to mere vegetative existence, compliance with the lowest instincts and meaningless repetition of the same actions. Showing, in such an atmosphere, a failure " voyage" of the autistic young man Geza into the world of regular people and adults – and also his attempt of getting a job at the quarry – Mr. Haj has created through simple and juicy language, pithy dialogues and bitterly-cynical relationships between the characters, an impressive image of the world deprived of God, hopes and prospects.

The performance, at its own stage is played as a chamber performance, on the rotation where the audience, together with the characters, can experience all the difficulties of the transition in general, inclusion and hard lives of the characters, and at the same time can sympathize with the destiny of “Little Geza”. We can say that this is the kind of theater in which you see every wrinkle, every tear, every drop of sweat.. the performance that certainly does not leave the audience indifferent.

Premiere of "Little Geza " was 09.10.2012. and so far has been performed 25 times on our scene and on the scenes throughout Serbia.

National Theatre “Pirot” is one of the oldest theaters in Serbia and as a professional one exists more than 70 years. For being a small theater it’s very hard to satisfy everyone's taste but we are trying to keep our audience up to date with both, the modern theater expression as well as with unsurpassed classics. Up to now the Theatre has had 363 premieres in 70 seasons, numerous awards and it has become an important theater center of Serbia. In our previous work, the theater had a lot of success from which we mention the last: At the festival, "Joakim Vujic 2013" performance "Little Geza " has won following awards: • for best performance at the Festival, • Mr. Stevan Bodroza for Best Director, • Mr. Aleksandar Radulović - best actor, for his role of Geza. The same performance has been awarded with: • the Grand Prix award for the best text of Mr. Janos Haj and • Mr. Stevan Bodoroza for best performance director at the Festival "First played texts” of Serbia. The performance "Fifty-fifty” is also awarded for the Best Performance in whole at the festival “Joakim Vujic 2013" in the section which is dealing with the new theater trends.
